ACADEMIC OPERATIONS

Reporting to the Manager, Finance Operations, the position supports the leadership team within the unit with a high level of business acumen, advice, expertise, and assistance by continuously improving the efficient and effective project planning and financial operations. 

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Lead the creation of the assigned budgets.
  • Provide oversight on divisional budgets: review budget reports, monitor expenses, adjust full-year forecast amounts, verify revenue, consult with project leadership on issues.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reports; scenario planning; advice on financial impacts.
  • Lead financial analysis: prepare cash flow forecasts, update monthly planned data with actual activities and expenditures, provide feedback to leadership.
  • Prepare analysis of expenditure trends.
  • Create forecasts and cash flow and review them for accuracy and completeness.
  • Understand the budgetary impacts of new initiatives, enrollment changes, staff changes, and implements as approved.
  • Identify program/contract cost pressures and provide recommendations for cost containment/mitigation strategies.
  • Manage divisional procurement and requisitioning, and review for account accuracy, available funding and departmental needs.
  • Manage divisional time-sheet submissions and review for account accuracy
  • Enhance methods and tools to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of budget management and analysis.
  • Develop processes to maximize program and contract funding.
  • Prepare the annual SEM plan based on program architecture and operations.
  • Pull, review, and analyze data in the preparation of the SEM plan.
  • Monitor enrollment compared to the SEM plan of the upcoming term.
  • Identify risks early, provide recommendations for mitigation.
  • Identify impacts on staffing, budgets, etc.
  • Understanding of enrollment planning scenarios (including new programs and renewals).
  • Recommend resourcing impacts with enrollment numbers.    

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Minimum qualification of an applicable diploma and 3+ years in related experience in a post-secondary institution.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and communicate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with the development, maintenance, and oversight of budgets.
  • Strong leadership with proven decision making abilities.
  • Experience in working with PeopleSoft data (Financial, HR, Student) and Microsoft Suite, (including MS 365, Excel, Teams, BI) is essential.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with high attention to detail.
  • CPA and/or CFA preferred
  • Project Management Credential would be an asset.

Salary: AUPE Band Level 9 | Senior Analyst I | $67,798 - $88,037 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience.
