Casual Instructor, Medical Device Reprocessing Technician

NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone dedicated to making a difference!  We are looking for a course casual instructor to join our Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) program team at our downtown campus.  This program teaches skills in sterile processing with the goal of having students successfully obtain their CMDRT certification. 

As a NorQuest Instructor, you will facilitate learning in a variety of modalities, and this will require the use of technology to deliver engaging learner experiences.  Instructors help our learners acquire the knowledge, skills and attitude to be successful in their chosen career. You will need to possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and have a passion for providing instruction and feedback that allows our students to apply skills in a safe and inclusive environment.

We have up to two (2) course casual instructor positions available for the Winter 2026 term.  The successful candidate(s) would teach synchronously Tuesday and Thursday evenings online as well as in person labs held on scheduled Saturdays at our downtown campus (or another designated site).  Evening online class times are 6:00 – 9:30 pm and labs are held on scheduled Saturdays 8 am - 4 pm. The courses below are offered sequentially.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE 

  • Deliver a learner experience that is engaging and workforce-relevant through engaging and dynamic lessons utilizing a variety of teaching methods and activities 

  • Monitor and promote learner success and academic performance 

  • Demonstrate exceptional collaboration and communication skills with learners, department faculty and staff, and the Chair 

  • Track and identify needs for program supplies and resources  

  • Support and promote our commitment to anti-racism, diversity, inclusion and equity through your approach to leading, teaching and learning 

 

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A minimum of three years of recent experience working in an acute care Medical Device Reprocessing Area (MDRA) that includes scope reprocessing is required 

  • Current CMDRT or CMDRS certification is required 

  • Previous teaching experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment 

  • Proficiency in using technology; demonstrated experience teaching using Moodle and/or virtual classroom software would be a benefit 

  • Ability to work independently, and collaborate with the team 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is considered an asset

SALARY: Reflective based on your education and experience. This is a faculty role therefore the pay range is quite large, the Faculty Association agreement Appendix A outlines how pay is determined. This opportunity also includes 11.2% in lieu of vacation and benefits.
