FACULTY OF HEALTH STUDIES
Reporting to the Program Chair, or designate, an instructor carries out a range of activities that fall under a variety of categories: Course preparation, Course delivery, Supporting student success, Curriculum work, Professionalism, Professional Development, and College Service.
Instructors are responsible for delivering high quality instruction in the courses that they have been assigned, fostering a positive learning environment, contributing to the academic success of students and a collaborative teaching team. Instructors are expected to demonstrate NorQuest’s Qs in their daily work.
Instructors may be required to teach during the day, evening or weekend depending on the teaching assignment. Delivery of content may per in-person, online or Hy-flex. Instructors may be required to provide lab, theory and clinical coverage as required to meet operational needs. |
HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
Course preparation:
- Course preparation for each course assigned includes updating course outlines, personalizing the course LMS shell, reviewing and updating class materials, activities and resources to ensure learning objectives are identified and met.
Course delivery:
- Plans for and develops materials for instruction in theory and lab.
- Deliver instruction across various settings, including labs, theory, and placements.
- Adapt teaching materials and methods based on student needs and feedback.
Supporting student success:
- Supervise and mentor students during practical experiences, providing constructive feedback on performance.
- Maintain a supportive learning environment that fosters equity, diversity, inclusion, for student engagement and success.
- Provides formative and summative feedback to learners in compliance with college and program policies.
- Plans, modifies, and implements individual educational plans.
- Inputs grades as required by college procedures and policies.
- Maintains appropriate program and student records/reports of student progress in classroom, lab and practicum settings as assigned.
- Implements Learning Improvement Plans after consultation with the Program Chair or designate
Professionalism:
- Follow lines of communication when issues or concerns arise and require escalation.
- Ensures knowledge of all college procedures and policies.
- Adheres to health and safety, program, and college policies and procedures.
- Carries out instructional duties in theory, lab, and clinical settings.
- Demonstrates professional conduct and attitudes.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- A bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines, masters preferred:
- Mental Health and Addictions
- Mental Health Counselling
- Counselling Psychology
- Social Work
- At least 5 years of full-time experience in the mental health field
- Previous formal or informal teaching experience is an asset.
- A strong understanding of teaching methodologies tailored to adult learners and international students, along with well-articulated teaching philosophy that reflects inclusivity, adaptability, and a commitment to learner-centered education is an asset.
- Portability letter to confirm hours.

SALARY: Reflective based on your education and experience. This is a faculty role therefore the pay range is quite large, the Faculty Association agreement Appendix A outlines how pay is determined.
