Casual Instructors (High School level) for Upgrading

FACULTY OF SKILLS AND FOUNDATIONAL LEARNING  

 

NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for a minimum of four (4) Instructors dedicated to making a difference to join our Faculty of Skills and Foundational Learning team as a daytime casual instructor in our 2024-25 Academic Year. Onboarding and training will be provided.

 

The successful candidates will thrive in showcasing our values of finding ways forward in teaching and learning environments that are dynamic! Providing compassion and creating a sense of belonging for co-workers and our learners will pave the way for engaging playfulness and creativity in problem solving as we explore new ways of developing course content, evaluating learning outcomes, and engaging learners in the class using technology. 

 

We are specifically looking for instructors capable of teaching in the following subject-areas: 

 

  • Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • English 10-12
  • Aboriginal Studies 30
  • Social Studies 30
  • Math 10-12

 

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

 

  • Engage learners in the co-creation of knowledge through teaching and learning upgrading courses based on Alberta Education high school curriculum.
  • Deliver course instruction in face-to-face, online, or hybrid settings.
  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate learning through materials and instructional practices that are in alignment with universal design principles and college values of anti-racism and inclusivity.
  • Evaluate the learning outcomes and experience of students through authentic and relevant assessments.
  • Attend to student and program records in accordance with College requirements.
  • Potentially serve on College committees that support the institutional strategic direction.
  • Share your knowledge and expertise and learn from your colleagues in faculty and staff meetings, professional development workshops, and other College functions.
  • Actively engage lifelong learning by staying current with developments in your profession through participating in professional organizations and conferences.
  • Use applicable educational technology such as Moodle and PeopleSoft.
  • Communicate with faculty and management as needed.

 

 WHAT YOU BRING:

 

  • Bachelor of Education Degree
  • Valid Alberta Teacher’s certificate
  • Familiarity with Alberta Education curriculum
  • Other assets relevant to the position:
    • Experience teaching Alberta Education courses
    • Demonstrated experience and training in adult education
    • Experience with Indigenous learners
    • Experience with educational technologies
    • Experience with English language learners
    • Online teaching experience

SALARY: Reflective of what you bring, AKA your education and experience. This is a casual position, which includes an additional 11.2% in lieu of vacation and benefits. This is a Faculty role therefore the pay range is quite large, the Faculty Association agreement outlines how pay is determined.
