NorQuesters are difference makers and we are searching for an energetic and experienced Instructor who is dedicated to making a difference in the Social Work program. The Social Work Diploma program at NorQuest College has a unique multicultural focus that is relevant to the needs of Edmonton and the region’s growing Indigenous and multicultural communities. Preparing graduates for entry level positions in social work agencies, this program also offers them eligibility to transfer to numerous Bachelor of Social Work programs.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

• Contribute to the achievement of the Faculty, program and College goals.

• Collaborate and contribute as a positive team member.

• Plan and prepare face to face instructional delivery.

• Instruct and evaluate students in the Social Work program.

• Maintain student and program records.

• Assist and contribute to accreditation program requirement needs as a collaborative team member.

• Provide student support and development within the College.

• Use Learning Management System (LMS) such as Moodle to develop and plan instructional tools for students.

• Participate and collaborate with other faculty and programs in curriculum development, delivery, stakeholder engagement and evaluation and research.

 

WHAT YOU BRING:

• Completed Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CASWE-ACFTS- accredited institution

    • If your education was received internationally we recommend you obtain an international education assessment through IQASWES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations.

• Current and in good standing RSW Alberta license/registration.

• 5 years’ experience in teaching/social work practice or a combination of teaching and practice.

• Demonstrated strong team and collegial relationship building skills is considered a must.

• Demonstrate strong teaching and academic skills, a commitment to Indigenous, multicultural and diversity issues, evidence of research and scholarly activity, and a willingness to engage in service to the program, College and community.

• Teaching in Social Work is an asset.

• Research and student supervision experience preferred.

• Demonstrate knowledge in adult learning theory, curriculum design, and the capacity to teach in blended learning environments.

• Knowledge and experience in the use of Learning Management System (LMS) such as Moodle and/ or with other educational technologies considered an asset

• Experience developing and teaching online and face to face courses considered an asset.

• Experience with International Learners considered an asset.

• Extensive experience within an Alberta support, resources and stakeholder relationship context is considered an asset.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS:​​​​​

Successful candidates for the Social Work Instructor position are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check within the last ninety days.

SALARY:  Reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. Plus an additional 11.2% in lieu of benefits and vacation. This is a Faculty role therefore the pay range is quite large, the Faculty Association agreement outlines how pay is determined.
