Reporting to the Team Lead, HR Partnerships, the Compensation and Job Evaluation Specialist is a subject matter expert in compensation and job evaluation and is responsible for the design, development, delivery, implementation and maintenance of the college’s compensation and classification system. As part of the People and Talent Operations team, this role works within the team to ensure consistent, transparent and comprehensive compensation and job evaluation services, while meeting evolving needs of the college. This role conducts comprehensive and complex analyses related to all facets of compensation and makes recommendations in alignment with policies and procedures. Equally, this role will be responsible for conducting research and analyses to ensure consistent application of job evaluation methods and systems, that results in a fair, consistent and equitable evaluation of all roles across the college.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Lead the administration and continuous improvement of the College’s job evaluation framework, classification system, and compensation programs.
- Conduct job evaluations, classification reviews, job audits, and compensation analyses for new and existing positions, providing recommendations to support organizational needs.
- Review, validate, and provide guidance on job descriptions to ensure alignment with classification standards, job architecture, and internal equity principles.
- Facilitate job evaluation and classification processes in collaboration with HR Business Partners and stakeholders, providing expert technical recommendations and consultation.
- Maintain job architecture, classification and compensation documentation, evaluation records, and related reporting for audit and governance purposes.
- Conduct market benchmarking, salary analysis, and compensation research to support informed decision-making and compensation strategy development.
- Serve as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for compensation and classification matters, providing policy interpretation, advice, and guidance to leaders and stakeholders.
- Monitor compensation and classification trends, evaluate program effectiveness, and recommend enhancements to policies, procedures, tools, and practices.
- Partner with HR Business Partners and leaders to support organizational design, workforce planning, job design, and organizational change initiatives.
- Support collective bargaining activities by providing research, market data analysis, and recommendations on compensation and classification matters.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, Business, Commerce or related field.
Equivalencies will be considered:

- A related two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and seven years of related experience.
- A related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and eight years of related experience.
- CPHR is preferred
- CCP will be considered an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in job evaluation, classification and compensation required.
- Strong technical knowledge of compensation and job evaluation principles, best practices, as well as statistical analysts and data interpretation
- Strong analytical and evaluation skills to address complex and contentious classification and compensations issues and to make consistent and defensible decisions.
- Unionized experience and understanding of collective agreements.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle time sensitive priorities.

- Serve as the College’s subject matter expert in job evaluation, classification, and compensation, providing guidance that aligns with policies, procedures, legislation, and collective agreements.
- Lead and support compensation and job evaluation projects, contributing to the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of related systems, frameworks, and practices.
- Exercise initiative, sound judgment, and independent decision-making within established compensation and classification frameworks, consulting leadership on complex matters as required.
- Act as a key resource and point of contact for People and Talent Operations, partnering with leaders and stakeholders across the College on classification and compensation matters.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners, including cross-PSI committees and working groups, to support best practices, consistency, and strategic initiatives in compensation and job evaluation.
SALARY: $83,782.65 - $104,695.81 annually, reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience.
