We’re excited to see you explore the opportunity to join our team as Dean, Academic Strategy & Integration. The Academic Strategy & Integration Division (ASI) provides multi-ranging services to students and is engaged in the cross-faculty work of the Academic portfolio including the leadership and stewardship of our academic strategy. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Students & Academic Strategy, the Dean leads ASI including its operations, departments, services and programming. The Dean provides strategic leadership within the division and at the college level, inspiring and leading staff and faculty engaged in Indigenous peoples education and careers, student services including academic and wellness supports, and library services, as well as student resolution, work integrated learning, career education, dual credit, pathways development including microcredentials, regional delivery, and academic strategy.
The Dean maintains strong internal relationship, ensuring that ASI’s impact, budget, resources, business planning, program quality, and student success needs are planned, executed and aligned to help achieve the colleges strategic plan and our academic strategy: Reimagine Higher Education. This position also ensures that operational and strategic support is provided by ASI to move college priorities forward.
Working in consultation with other senior leaders across the organization, including executive, industry, and community partners to develop and implement sound educational strategies, programs, and services, the Dean will ensure students have access to the supports and programming that contributes to their learning experience and success.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
College and Divisional Planning and Leadership
- Creates a culture of “learner first” whereby every member of the team acts in such a way that students feel valued and respected.
- As a member of Deans’ Council, the Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Steering Committee, and Strategic Operations’ Committee, the Dean provides educational leadership and management to the College and the Division that align with the College’s strategy and business plans.
- Seeks opportunities to innovate how we deliver services, teach and learn, including the integration of creative technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence.
- Builds the capacity of faculty and staff expertise and programming accessibility to create an inclusive and successful learning environment for all students with particular emphasis on current college strategies such Indigenous, international and immigrant populations.
Divisional Operations
- Ensures sound financial stability by engaging faculty and staff in the financial planning process. Provides direction for the overall Divisional capital, operating, and revenue budget development, as well as managing Faculty expenditures.
- Provides leadership and direction in the development of financial resources for programming and applied research activities.
- Provides direction for the development and implementation of high quality, cost effective educational products and services delivery.
- Ensures relevancy and success of programs and services by evaluating the relevancy of existing programs. Leads necessary changes to ensure needs of industry and community partners are met.
- Supports students in achieving their learning and career goals by ensuring academic excellence and student success through the development of a quality learning environment and by monitoring and acting on key performance indicator results.
- Implements strategies to expand learner access through multiple modes of educational and services delivery.
Internal, External, Industry, and Community Advocacy
- Facilitates strong industry and community alliances to understand and identify the successful alignment of curriculum and training required to meet the changing needs of employers and regulators.
- Promotes and maintains partnerships with industry and community to facilitate student placements and identify new areas of program/service development.
- Maintains and develops strong industry relationships and alliances by supporting ongoing development of Program Advisory Committees.
WHAT YOU BRING:
· Related Master’s Degree or a combination of education and equivalent experience. PhD preferred.
· 5+ years of extensive and demonstrated experience in senior post-secondary administration, including experience in student service delivery.
· Extensive experience in providing academic leadership in the development and delivery of educational programs and services.
· Demonstrated leadership and experience in advancing anti-racism, justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and decolonial Indigenization initiatives and understanding.
· Knowledge and understanding of issues (including cultural, socio-economic, and other factors) affecting Indigenous peoples and communities, and other excluded populations.
· Demonstrated capacity to lead in matters relating to advancing the college’s strategic priorities, and especially with respect to Indigenous engagement.
· Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with Indigenous, immigrant, and other communities, provincial and federal governments, as well as both international and domestic students in a post-secondary setting.
SALARY: $134,940 – $185,241 annual, reflective upon your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
