Reporting to the Vice President, People, Culture & Equity, the Director leads the development and implementation of strategic organizational development and effectiveness programs designed to cultivate an inclusive and exceptional organizational culture.

 

The Director supports the college in the achieving the goals set out in NorQuest College’s strategic plan, NorQuest 2030: We are who we include. This position plays a key role in helping to create an adaptive and inclusive organization, positioning the college as a purpose-driven employer of choice. The Director oversees a multi-disciplinary team that helps position the college to attract, grow, and develop team members through a people-first approach that sparks innovation and continuous learning. They lead programs and initiatives designed to ensure a safe, welcoming, supportive, and flexible workplace and learning environment. The Director advances the college’s commitment to becoming an inclusive, anti-racist, and decolonized organization through an ongoing focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion. They will achieve this by including various perspectives into programs and approaches, while providing learning opportunities designed to increase cultural awareness and expand understanding of varying backgrounds and viewpoints.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

 

Executive and Senior Leader Team Support

  • Acts as a consultant to the executive and senior leadership teams and partners with the VP, People, Culture & Equity on various organization-wide projects.
  • Serves as a thought leader, presenting on topics associated with NorQuest’s People Strategy and sharing best and emerging practices to help support the development of leadership competencies across the organization.
  • Provides facilitative support in managing organizational change and strategic planning efforts.
  • Leads in the development and implementation of organizational approaches to gathering feedback from employees, reflecting back what is shared, presenting findings and offering recommendations to leaders in developing action plans.
  • Influences organizational strategy and supports strategic initiatives as a member of the Strategic Operations Committee.

 

Program Development and Implementation

  • Leads in the development of programs and initiatives to continually support employee experiences, engagement and effectiveness while evolving organizational culture.
  • Engages in meaningful consultation and collaboration to inform approaches and will partner with the Office of Equity and the NorQuest community to help ensure an equitable and inclusive environment for all. 
  • Actively seeks to understand what it means for non-Indigenous and Indigenous NorQuesters to walk together at the college and how this integrates into the programs led by the division.
  • Stays up to date and implements best and emerging practices related to recognition, employee motivation, leadership development, team and individual performance development, psychological safety, organizational culture, change management and strategic planning.
  • Identifies and implements strategies to support the learning needs of the college with a focus on role specific and behavioral skills  
  • Partners with the events team to create enriching experiences for employees through college-wide events for learning and connections.
  • Monitors organizational performance and using internal data and external research to support evidence-based recommendations and decision-making.

 

Divisional Leadership

  • Leads the Organizational Development & Effectiveness division ensuring that programs and initiatives are implemented to achieve the outcomes contained within the college’s strategic plan.
  • Co-leads in the development and implementation of the portfolio business plans.
  • Effectively manages the division’s budget.
  • Proactively identifies and manages risk within the division.
  • Ensures that policies and procedures and documentation to support business continuity are created and maintained.
  • Provides inclusive leadership to support engagement, effectiveness and development of all team members.
  • Communicates effectively and fosters trust and psychological safety.
  • Represents the portfolio on college-wide and external committees.
  • Reports and presents on various topics as a representative of the division internally and externally.

 

WHAT YOU BRING:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Organizational Effectiveness, Leadership or a related field is required though masters degree is preferred.
  • 7-10 years in organizational development, with 3-5 years in a senior role within a similarly sized and complex organization.

SALARY:  $134,940.00 - $185,241.00 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full time permanent position with immediate access to great pension and benefit programs.
