Instructor, Speech-Language Pathologist

NorQuesters are difference makers, and we're searching for someone dedicated to making a difference. We are seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to join our Faculty of Health team as a casual instructor in our accredited Interdisciplinary Therapy Assistant (ITA) program.

As a NorQuest Instructor, you will facilitate learning in a variety of modalities using technology to create engaging learner experiences. Instructors help learners acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to succeed in their chosen careers. You will bring strong organizational and communication skills, along with a passion for providing instruction and feedback that enables students to apply their learning in a safe, inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Program Chair, the ITA Instructor will work alongside like-minded individuals dedicated to helping our learners acquire the knowledge, skills, and competencies required for future practice in rehabilitation. This position requires someone who is dependable, possesses excellent communication skills, enjoys working with people, and has a desire to play at work & work at play.

The successful candidate must be available to teach THPR2101 - Supporting Language and Swallowing at the downtown Edmonton campus from January 4 to April 21, 2027, and June 7 to July 2, 2027.

 

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Deliver engaging and workforce-relevant learning experiences through dynamic lessons that incorporate a variety of teaching methods and activities.
  • Prepare instructional materials and update curriculum for both theory and lab courses.
  • Monitor learner progress and promote student success and academic performance.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with learners, faculty, staff, and the Program Chair.
  • Track program supply and resource needs.
  • Participate in program evaluation and accreditation activities.
  • Advance our commitment to anti-racism, diversity, inclusion, and equity through your approach to leading, teaching, and learning.

 

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Speech-language pathologist registered with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring Therapy Assistants or Communication Assistants.
  • Excellent communication and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Computer proficiency and online teaching experience preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience in speech-language pathology.

Compensation: THRP2101 is a 3-credit course that is compensated at a course casual rate per credit. An additional 11.2% is paid in lieu of benefits and vacation. This role falls under the NorQuest College Faculty Association.
