NorQuesters are difference makers, and we’re searching for someone dedicated to making a difference to join our Wellness team as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Reporting to the Manager of Wellness, the Licensed Practical Nurse's primary function is to identify and respond to medical emergencies, provide medical and lifestyle support, and coordinate the student health education programs. This role is essential for supporting students' health and ensuring students in health programs meet their clinical placement immunization requirements. This position also supports the continued implementation of Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, Anti-Racism, and Decolonial Indigenization.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Provide compassionate clinical care and emergency response by assessing injuries and illnesses on campus, offering appropriate care recommendations, and serving as the first point of contact for students requiring medical support. You will also provide emergency care and first aid to staff and faculty as needed.

Support student readiness through immunization and health compliance by reviewing immunization records, identifying incomplete documentation, and educating students on required vaccinations and safe practice procedures for clinical placements.

Promote health and wellness through education by developing, coordinating, and leading student health initiatives that offer proactive information and support on a wide range of health-related topics.

Foster collaboration and community connections by maintaining strong relationships within the Wellness unit, with academic program areas, and with the clinical placement team. You will also build a network of community contacts to ensure appropriate referrals and access to external supports.

Lead communicable disease prevention and response by managing information gathering and communication related to the College’s Communicable Disease Procedure, assessing campus risks, and maintaining up-to-date processes and protocols to ensure a safe campus environment.
WHAT YOU BRING:

A Diploma in Practical Nursing.

Current registration and good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

Current certification in CPR.

Three to five years of experience in a community health setting, with a focus on health education and promotion.
