The Manager, Library Services provides strategic, operational, and people leadership for NorQuest College Library Services, ensuring high-quality, innovative, and accessible library operations that advance student success, strengthen the campus learning environment, and support institutional priorities. This role champions a culture of exceptional service and leads the ongoing evolution of library services through effective change leadership, collaboration, and evidence-informed decision making.

Reporting to the Dean, Academic Quality and Innovation, the Manager is responsible for the full scope of library operations, with particular accountability for financial stewardship, resource allocation, and operational planning. The role oversees budgeting and expenditure management to ensure efficient, responsible use of institutional resources and long-term sustainability of library services. The Manager provides leadership to a diverse team of AUPE and NCFA employees, fostering a positive, service-oriented workplace focused on learner needs and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include managing physical and digital collections; overseeing library systems, digital platforms, and technology-enabled services; optimizing space within the Learner Centre; and ensuring consistent, high-quality, patron-focused service across all campus locations. The Manager plays a critical role in shaping operational priorities, enhancing service models, and supporting staff through organizational change

• Lead the development and delivery of library services that enhance the student experience and support faculty needs
• Build and sustain strong partnerships with academic departments, student services, and external organizations
• Drive continuous improvement through learner-centered innovation, data-informed decisions, and service enhancements
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to a diverse library team; oversee recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and psychologically safe workplace culture focused on high engagement and service excellence
• Oversee daily library operations across physical and digital spaces, ensuring accessible, high-quality, and consistent user experiences
• Manage library systems, collections, vendors, and budgets to ensure effective, compliant, and cost-efficient service delivery
• Align library services with institutional strategy, curriculum needs, and key initiatives such as information literacy, digital literacy, and research support 

 

 

WHAT YOU BRING

  • MLIS or MLS degree from an ALA-accredited institution
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a post-secondary library leadership role, with additional leadership and management experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of information and digital literacy instruction, library technologies, and the role of technology in education delivery
  • Proven experience in budget management, workforce planning, and multi-year forecasting
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with the ability to build relationships, foster engagement, and communicate effectively
  • Exceptional organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to supporting diverse student populations and collaborating in team environments

SALARY:  $92,399 - $115,531 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time, permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
