Rural Instructor - Practical Nurse Program

We are looking for 2 casual instructors to assist us in the delivery of the Practical Nurse Rural delivery. This may include assisting in lab or clinical settings.
Rural location: Castor and surrounding area

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
- As a NorQuest Instructor, you will facilitate learning in a variety of health care settings in rural communities, so the ability to travel to these sites is a requirement. Our clinical sites include both acute and continuing care.
- Instructors help our learners acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitude to be successful and safe practitioners within their scope of practice. You will need to possess excellent organizational and communication skills and have a passion for providing instruction and feedback that allows our students to apply skills in a safe and patient-centered way.
- Casual position working with students in labs and clinical placements. This position will support our rural delivery. Work hours vary based on lab and clinical schedules:
Clinical Shifts: Saturday and Sundays – 12-hour shifts
- Clinicals focus on long-term care, medicine and surgical site rotations
- Responsibilities include planning and developing clinical assignments, supervising students, maintaining a facilitative and supportive learning environment, maintaining appropriate student records of attendance and performance, providing relevant feedback to students on performance, notifying the instructional coordinator of student concerns, and developing and maintaining site rapport and relationships.
- Preference will be given to those living in rural areas where the program is being hosted.
Lab shifts:
- Responsibilities include planning and facilitating lab practicing, supervising students, maintaining a facilitative and supportive learning environment, maintaining appropriate student records of attendance and performance, providing appropriate feedback to students on performance, and notifying the associate chair of student concerns.
- Lab shifts run 0800-1600: number of days depends on the lab course being delivered.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- A Practical Nurse Diploma or a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
- Minimum of 5 years full-time clinical nursing or nursing education experience
- CRNA or CLPNA registration.
- Current BLS.
- Previous formal or informal teaching experience is an asset.
- Portability letter to confirm hours.

- Ability to develop different classroom strategies to keep learners engaged.
- Strong oral communication and writing skills.
- Passionate about Nursing and teaching technical skills to individuals interested in joining the Health Care industry.
SALARY: Reflective based on your education and experience. This is a faculty role therefore the pay range is quite large, the Faculty Association agreement Appendix A outlines how pay is determined.
