Senior Financial Reporting Consultant

NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone with a high level of technical and analytical proficiency who can find ways forward in the timely and accurate reporting of financial metrics, ensuring business rules, college policies, procedure, and accounting standards and practices are followed.

 

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting. The Senior Financial Reporting Consultant is responsible for development and maintaining the financial management and reporting practices for the college. The role will work with internal and external stakeholders to inform the college’s reporting practices for the preparation and analysis of financial reports, statements, mandatory governmental institutional reporting, surveys, and questionnaires, while maintaining financial system chartfields.

 

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Prepare and analyze financial reports (monthly, quarterly, year-end), including variance investigation and ad hoc analysis to support timely management decisions.
  • Coordinate annual financial statements and audits, including notes, working papers, and audit-related documentation for the College and its Foundation.
  • Produce institutional, government, and regulatory reports, such as program costing, budget packages, Government of Alberta submissions, Statistics Canada surveys, and CRA charity filings.
  • Develop specialized analyses, including the College’s economic impact assessment and financial evaluations for internal and external initiatives.
  • Review new accounting standards and business opportunities, assessing impacts and recommending adoption where appropriate.
  • Drive process improvements, focusing on automation, reduced manual work, and enhanced client-focused reporting.
  • Support financial systems and data integrity, including gathering reporting requirements, maintaining chartfields and the chart of accounts, and setting up new values in PeopleSoft/IT systems.

 

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Business.
  • Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • 5+ years’ accounting experience including financial statement preparation, reporting, and full-cycle accounting.
  • Solid working knowledge of Canadian GAAP and accounting standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and detail orientation.
  • Experience in public sector or not-for-profit is an asset.
  • Proficiency with PeopleSoft and CaseWare is an asset.

SALARY: $92,399 - $115,531 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
