WORK-INTEGRATED LEARNING AND CAREER EDUCATION CENTRE

 

NorQuesters are difference makers, and we’re searching for an individual dedicated to making a difference to join our Work-Integrated Learning and Career Education Centre (WILCEC) team as a Senior Job Developer. The successful candidate will passionately advance student learning and success; build trusted, mutually beneficial relationships with employer-partners; dependably support students and colleagues; and lead from where they are to strengthen consistent, high-quality WIL experiences. 

 

This is a six month term with the possibility of extension depending on funding. The term concludes April 30, 2027.

 

This position is the primary point of contact for employer-partners and creates work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities that develop students’ employability skills, career tools, and readiness for employment while meeting employer-partner needs. The Senior Job Developer also provides mentorship, advice, and problem-solving support to other Job Developers to promote standardized processes and strong stakeholder experiences. 

 

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Research labour-market trends, open roles, and prospective employer-partners to identify and create WIL opportunities. 
  • Build and maintain employer-partner relationships through outreach, referrals, networking, site visits, tours, and ongoing partnership development. 
  • Collaborate with employer-partners to design meaningful student roles that meet program requirements and provide opportunities to develop relevant skills and experience. 
  • Guide employer-partners through WIL requirements, including, documentation, training, and placement expectations. 
  • Complete pre-placement site visits, support supervisors, and troubleshoot concerns in collaboration with WIL Career Coaches to help ensure safe, successful experiences. 
  • Advocate for student employment and help employer-partners remove barriers for equity-seeking students through anti-racist, equitable, inclusive, and accessible practices. 
  • Support students before, during, and after WIL through individualized conversations, career-development tools, workshops, barrier reduction, and referrals. 
  • Mentor and support other Job Developers by sharing expertise, navigating processes, solving problems, and strengthening consistency across WILCEC. 
  • Lead or contribute to data management, reporting, process development, team initiatives, events, and strategic priorities across WILCEC. 

 

 

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A diploma or degree in education, human resources, management or relevant field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 3-5 years of experience in post-secondary environment or hiring and recruiting environment with knowledge of employability skills and career development techniques and strategies
  • Experience developing employer relationships, networking, and creating opportunities that respond to both organizational and learner needs. 
  • Experience providing mentorship, guidance, or peer support. 
  • Experience advising and supporting diverse learners, including immigrants, international students, students with disabilities, and English-language learners. 
  • Excellent one-to-one communication, group facilitation, interpersonal, and rapport-building skills. 
  • Knowledge of labour-market trends, employability skills, and workplace expectations. 
  • Strong organization, accuracy, judgement, diplomacy, and the ability to assess situations and determine when to act independently or seek support. 
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office products; experience with PeopleSoft, Moodle, and employability or career-development technology is an asset. 
  • A Career Development Certificate is an asset. 
  • A valid driver’s licence and the willingness and ability to travel to employer-partner locations.

SALARY:  AUPE Band Level 8 | Advisor II | $2,590 - $3,364 bi-weekly reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience.
