Teaching Assistant - Environmental Technician Field School

NorQuesters are difference makers and we're searching for an individual dedicated to finding ways to join our Faculty of Business Environment & Technology as a Teaching Assistant supporting Environmental Technician Field School. This role is integral to the success of both instructors and students during the intensive field school program. The Teaching Assistant will be involved in various activities, both on campus and in the field, including overnight stays at off-campus locations.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Instructor Support: Assist instructors in preparing and delivering course content, including setting up equipment, organizing materials, and facilitating field exercises.
- Student Support: Provide guidance and support to students during field activities, helping them understand concepts and ensuring their safety and success in practical applications.
- Field Activity Coordination: Assist in the setup and coordination of field activities, including the preparation of materials, transportation logistics, and site setup.
- On-Campus Duties: Support the program with administrative tasks, classroom setup, and any additional duties as required by the instructors.
- Off-Campus Duties: Participate in and support off-campus field activities, including overnight stays. Ensure all necessary materials and equipment are prepared and assist in the smooth execution of field exercises.
- Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to contribute to the overall success of the field school program.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Enrolled in or recently completed a program related to Environmental Science, Environmental Technician, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable with outdoor work and overnight stays.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to off-campus locations. A class 4 driver’s license is preferred but not required.

WORK CONDITIONS:
- This role requires a mix of on-campus and off-campus work, including outdoor field activities.
- Overnight stays at off-campus locations will be required.
- Physical activity is involved, including setting up field equipment and assisting in various outdoor tasks.
LOCATION:
- This NorQuest Downtown Campus & Off-Campus Field Locations
SALARY: $28.66 to $37.24 hourly. This is a casual position, and the duration is from September 2nd, 2025 to October 17th, 2025 as needed.
