The Instructor, Practical Nurse for Internationally Educated Nurses (PNDIEN), delivers high-quality instruction that supports internationally educated nurses in building the knowledge, skills, and confidence required for nursing practice in Canada. Reporting to the Program Chair, this role contributes to student success through instruction, curriculum delivery, practicum support, and learner-centered education in theory, lab, clinical, and online environments.

As a member of the Faculty of Health Studies, the Instructor fosters a positive and inclusive learning environment, supports diverse learners, and works collaboratively with faculty, healthcare partners, and college support areas to prepare students for safe professional practice. Instructors are expected to demonstrate NorQuest's Qs in their daily work and contribute to teaching excellence, continuous improvement, and student success.

 

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

  • Prepare courses by updating course outlines, learning management system content, class materials, activities, and resources to ensure learning objectives are identified and met.
  • Plan and develop materials for instruction in theory, lab, and clinical settings.
  • Deliver instruction across various healthcare settings, including labs, theory, clinical placements, and online learning environments.
  • Provide skill demonstrations, supervise skill practice, and assess learner competency.
  • Adapt teaching materials and instructional methods based on student needs and feedback.
  • Ensure students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for safe nursing practice.
  • Supervise and mentor students during practical experiences while providing formative and summative feedback.
  • Maintain a supportive learning environment that fosters equity, diversity, inclusion, student engagement, and success.
  • Participate in curriculum development, course review, and program improvement activities that align with learning objectives and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain student records, implement learning improvement plans, submit grades in accordance with college procedures, and participate in committees, projects, and college service activities.

 

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • A Practical Nurse Diploma or a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Current registration in good standing with the appropriate professional regulatory body.
  • Minimum five years of full-time nursing experience.
  • CRNA or CLPNA registration.
  • Current BLS.
  • Demonstrated application of equity, diversity, and inclusion in practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral communication, and written communication skills, with the ability to teach individuals at different skill levels.
  • Passion for nursing education and supporting internationally educated nurses entering the Canadian healthcare system.
  • Previous formal or informal teaching experience is an asset.
  • Portability letter to confirm hours.
