NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re looking for a term Instructor to join our Faculty of Health Studies team at our Edmonton & Wetaskiwin campuses in our Practical Nurse program.  This position will be ending on March 31, 2026.

 

Graduates of NorQuest College’s Practical Nurse program are also difference makers in terms of the health care that Albertans receive. Our students prepare for their clinical experiences with theory and hands-on learning in multiple modes of delivery, and we are proud of the varied and robust learning experiences in our programs. We utilize low and high-fidelity simulation to augment the learner experience, providing students with a safe learning environment to practice and reflect.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

 

  • Deliver instruction across various health care settings, including labs, theory, and clinical placements.
  • Teaching hours may be during the day, evening, or weekend depending on teaching assignment.
  • Delivery of content may be online, Hy-flex, or in-person.
  • Ensure students acquire necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes for safe practice.
  • Work collaboratively to create and develop curricula that align with learning objectives and accreditation standards.
  • Adapt teaching materials and methods based on student needs and feedback.
  • Supervise and mentor students during practical experiences, providing constructive feedback on performance.
  • Maintain a supportive learning environment that fosters equity, diversity, inclusion, for student engagement and success.
  • Travel is required within the Greater Edmonton area for clinical instruction.
  • Lab, theory, and clinical coverage as needed for operational needs.
  • Maintain all required certifications as required for the registration of your professional designation.
  • Plans for and develops materials for instruction in theory, lab, and clinical.
  • Carries out instructional duties in theory, lab, and clinical settings.
  • Demonstrates professional conduct and attitudes.
  • Adheres to health and safety, program, and college policies and procedures.
  • Provides formative and summative feedback to learners in compliance with college and program policies.
  • Provides initial skill demonstration in theory class, supervises skill practice, and assesses skills for competency.
  • Plans, modifies, and implements individual educational plans.
  • Inputs grades as required by college procedures and policies.
  • Maintains appropriate program and student records/reports of student progress in classroom, lab and clinical settings as assigned.
  • Participates in committees and projects as required to maintain operation of PND program.

 

WHAT YOU BRING:

 

  • A Practical Nurse Diploma & a Bachelor's degree in a Health-related field or a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • CRNA or CLPNA registration in good standing 
  • At least 5 years of full-time clinical nursing or nursing education experience (or the equivalent in part-time experience)
  • Previous formal or informal teaching experience is an asset.

SALARY: Reflective based on your education and experience. This is a Faculty role therefore the pay range is quite large, the Faculty Association agreement outlines how pay is determined.
