Students and Academic Strategy is a large division in the academic portfolio that includes a variety of distinct teams: Student Wellness, Learner Centre and Library Services, Testing Services, Academic Supports, Accessibility Services, miyo-pimâtisiwin Centre, Work-Integrated Learning and Career Education Centre, Student Resolution and Integrity Office, Cross-Faculty Education, Indigenous House of Learning, and Indigenous Career Centre.
The Vice Dean maintains strong internal relationships, ensuring that SAS’ budget, resources, business planning, program/service quality, process improvement, and student success priorities are planned, executed, and aligned to help achieve the college’s strategic plan and our academic strategy: Reimagine Higher Education. This position also ensures that operational and strategic support is provided by ASI to move college priorities forward.
The Vice Dean also works with external partners, and represents the College on external higher education and content specific forums. This external liaison is critical to remaining a leader in our areas of expertise, such as Reimagine Higher Education. The Vice Dean will provide additional leadership across the division and will be called upon to provide leadership in the absence of the Dean.
The Vice Dean reports to the Dean of Students and Academic Strategy, and has responsibility for managing ASI operations, leading departments, and providing strategic leadership within the division and at the college level.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
- Evaluating the division’s quality and impact including student services, educational strategies, programs, practices, and initiatives to ensure success of student, faculty, and staff.
- Leading college initiatives as outlined in the College’s strategic plan.
- Leading and supporting the development and delivery of services and programs, including Reimagine Higher Education.
- Fulfilling the division’s operational plan, including measures and reporting.
- Preparing, forecasting, tracking, and operating the divisional budget, and meeting alternative revenue targets.
- Building and leading assigned departments, including the preparation of work plans, budgets, briefing notes, and reports.
- Providing leadership, direction, coaching, mentorship, and performance development support to direct reports. Promoting a culture of continuous learning and commitment to student and faculty experience.
- Building the annual business plan and holding teams accountable for results, manages workload, and develops the skills and capabilities of staff to meet growing demand.
- Setting goals and objectives, providing feedback, coaching for performance, developing technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills of the team.
- Managing the relevant department operational budget and cost centre, including informing, and recommending the baseline, variance reporting, forecasting, and year-end closure processes.
- Providing Faculty and college leadership to specified programs, committees, projects, and initiatives.
- Contributing to the relevant strategic and operational directions of the college, as they impact academic strategy and Reimagine Higher Education, ensuring full understanding and executing work requested.
- Demonstrating involvement in planning and execution of a variety of college events and/or participation in college committees.
- Contributing and collaborating actively at Deans’ Council, Senior Academic Leadership Team, and other standing meetings
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Related Master’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Significant related experience in senior post-secondary administration or related field.
- Experience leading innovation in higher education is an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership and experience in advancing anti-racism, justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and decolonial Indigenization initiatives and understanding.
- Demonstrated commitment to ensuring student success and supporting the academic well-being of racialized students.

SALARY: $111,219-$139,052 annually. This is a fulltime permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs. Internal movement guidelines are outlined in the Salary Administration procedure.
